Congratulations on the new bike. I also have an '86. I got mine last April with 7,300 on the clock, and I now have over 10,400. All you questions were answered before on this forum, but here's some to get you started.

Near the rear of the engine on the exhaust side, there's a small round window with marks on both sides. Hold the bike level, maybe with help, and check the height of the oil in the window.

Oil is a whole other can of worms. Some say automotive is fine, others say only oil formulated to bikes. There's plenty of disucussion here and on the web, so the best thing to do is read, a lot, and decide for yourself.

Mine also came with bags, but mine also had the supports installed, which I think are Suzukis. Which ever supports you get, be careful of the mounting bolts. Mine started to rub the sidewalls of my rear tire. I moved the supports outside the fender wall, but don't like that arrangement. I will change it when time permits.

Again, welcome. Although it helps to read the old posts, don't be afraid to ask questions.

Rob
